Area Attractions

Hiking - Our best suggestion for finding the right trail for your hike is to visit where you can search hiking trails by county (our cabin is located in Oxford County) and difficulty level.  This online resource will provide detailed trail information.

Maine Trail Finder is a free online resource for people-powered trails in the state of Maine. Browse interactive trail maps, trail descriptions, pictures, and trip reports.


Down-hill Skiing - Shawnee Peak ski resort and Mount Abram ski resort are located about 45 minutes from the cabin.  Sunday River is a little over an hour away from the cabin.


Cross Country Skiing - Cross country skiing can be enjoyed in the woods right outside the cabin or if you prefer groomed trails you can visit Carter's X-Country Ski Center or Sunday River ski resort.


Golf - There are a number of local golf courses including the Point Sebago golf course which is an 18-hole championship course.  Situated on 500 acres of spectacular white birch forest, the par 72 course caters to all levels of play.


Course length ranges from a challenging 7,002 yards from the back tee to a forgiving 3,200 yards from the forward tee. Golf clinics and golf schools with our USGTF professionals and our extensive practice center will noticeably improve your skill and appreciation of the game. The Point Sebago course delivers the best golfing experience possible... round after round.


Seacoast Fun Park - Looking for a fun, affordable way to spend some quality time with friends and family? Seacoast Adventure, located in the Sebago Lakes area on Route 302 in Windham, provides outdoor fun all year long!  At the park you will find zip lines, mini golf, go-karts, tubin - spring, summer, fall, disc-golf, sky swing, winter snow tubing and much more.


Casino - Oxford Casino, only 14 miles from the cabin.


Freeport - Famous for it's factory outlet stores, Freeport Outlets offers great bargains and outstanding dining opportunities. There are about 56 stores including LL Bean's flagship store open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.


Story Land - A kids' theme park in Glen, NH that has entertained young families and children for 60  years. The park has grown to include more rides, more play areas, more shows, and more characters of all kinds.


Oxford Plains Speedway - A 3/8 miles paved oval with short straights and wide, sweeping turns.  The speedway plays host to a Saturday night Oxford Championship Series, a Wednesday night Oxford Acceleration Series, a Friday night Go Kart Series and occasional Motor Mayhem events.

Home to the Oxford 250.  With a purse nearing $200,000 and a guaranteed $25,100 to the winner, the Oxford 250 has been hailed as the richest one-day short track race in America.


Theater - Visit the Celebration Barn Theater , a center for creating and performing original theater. Dedicated to growing a creative community both locally and within the international performing arts field, the Barn fuels the development of new work that is crafted, innovative and wildly alive.


Fairs and Festivals - You can visit for more detailed information with dates and locations but a few of the popular area attractions are the: Caco Days, the Fryeburg Fair and the Oxford County Fair.  Another popular local event is Pumpkin Land which starts in mid September through Halloween.  Pumpkin Land is Maine's largest fall "Agritainment Venue".  The theme is pumpkins of course but there are many Halloween themed activities, rides, inflatable bounce houses, wagon rides to the pumpkin patch and much much more for families with small children to enjoy during their visit. 


Songo River Queen -  The Songo River Queen II is a privately built replica of the famed Mississippi River Paddle Wheelers.  The Queen is 93 feet long, 23 feet wide and weighs 100 tons, enabling it to offer and exceptionally smooth ride for even the most timid of passengers. It can accommodate up to 350 passengers and is handicapped accessible.  It has two decks including an open upper deck with an attractive red striped canopy for protection from the sun and rain, as well as a fully enclosed lower deck, and there are restrooms on board.

This allows her to easily accommodate large groups of people for weddings, corporate outings, anniversary parties, reunions, bus tours, functions, family reunions, project graduations, proms, and any other outing you might want to book. In season we have boat trips running daily allowing you to see the lakes in a comfortable and affordable fashion whenever you are in the area.

A food court is available on board for your convenience. A cocktail bar serving beer, wine, and liquor also operates on board, therefore, no alcoholic beverages may be carried aboard, per state law. The legal drinking age in Maine is 21 and a photo ID will be required to purchase alcohol.


There are a number of additional activities depending upon your preference such as antiquing, biking, sight seeing, snow shoeing, or just relaxing and reading a book!
